Neuroimaging
At the present time, computing facilities at the University of Michigan include 4 SUN Microsystems servers with 4 dual core processors each (16GB RAM), 2 Dell dual processor servers (each with 2 GB of RAM), 2 Dell 500 GB RAID storage systems, 2 SUN 50TB RAID arrays, 16 Dell NT workstations and 7 Macintosh computers. All the servers and workstations are connected with the Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging Laboratory, Department of Radiology and Division of Nuclear Medicine networks and servers via fiber optic cable and 1 Gb/sec router switches, facilitating fast data transfers. The servers are utilized to run AVS software-based image co-registration and anatomical standardization, Matlab-based statistical analysis software, SPM, Freesurfer and locally developed software for image retrieval, preprocessing and postprocessing. MRI segmentation and various image sampling and visualization routines.
